Nissan reports January 2022 sales in China

Nissan Altima and Qashqai achieved record January sales

BEIJING (Feb. 9, 2022) – Nissan’s passenger vehicle and light commercial vehicle sales in China declined by 8.7% in January 2022 over the same period last year to 133,467 units, as the external headwinds, including the ongoing pandemic and cross-industry shortages, lingered on.

Sales by passenger vehicle businesses (Nissan, Venucia and Infiniti brands) in the same period reached 111,333 units, a 11.4% decline year on year, while the light commercial vehicle business of Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd. (DFAC) and Zhengzhou Nissan (ZNA) rose 7.4% in January to 22,134 units.

Nissan reports retail sales for PV and wholesale sales for LCV

“Our passenger vehicle and light commercial businesses started with a strong January despite the on-going challenges, and laid a solid foundation for 2022,” said Shohei Yamazaki, senior vice president of Nissan, chairman of the Management Committee for China, and president of Dongfeng Motor Ltd. (DFL).

He said despite “short-term uncertainties and intensified competition” that the market remains robust from a long-term point of view.

“We remain focused on the quality of sales, market share, and a healthy profit level for sustainable growth in the market through introduction of more exciting technologies and products that enrich the lives of our customers,” he added. He said he was excited by the continuously robust performance of Nissan Altima, Qashqai and Venuica V-online, the growing popularity of the all-new Nissan X-trail, e-POWER Sylphy, and the upcoming all-new Infiniti QX60.

   •    133,467 vehicles were sold in January under the Nissan scope, an 8.7% decline from the same month a year earlier.

   •    The sales volume of Dongfeng Nissan in January reached 111,333 units (including Nissan, Venucia and Infiniti brands), and the sales volume of the Nissan brand reached 100,018 units. Venucia brand sold 10,008 vehicles in January, an increase of 126% year over year.

   •    Nissan’s LCV sales in China increased 7.4% year on year in January to 22,134 vehicles. DFAC’s January sales increased 3.5% to 17,180 vehicles while Zhengzhou Nissan’s January sales increased 23.6% year on year to 4,954 vehicles.

   •    Dongfeng Nissan’s performance in January was driven by its sedan and SUV series across Nissan, Venucia and Infiniti brands.

        ➢   For Nissan Sedans, Nissan Altima sold 18,739 units in January, an increase of 19.1% year-on-year that broke its January sales record; Nissan Sylphy series sold 49,982 in January.

        ➢   For Nissan SUVs, the sales volume of the SUV series reached 27,702 units in January. Qashqai sold 20,486 units in January,an increase of 25.4% year on year and a new January sales record.

        ➢   Venucia’s January sales were boosted mainly by the Venucia V-online (4,006 vehicles), D60 series (2,142 vehicles) and EV families (2,388 units).

        ➢   Infiniti’s January sales were driven mainly by the QX50 and Q50L. The all-new QX60 will further enhance offerings to Chinese customers passionate for a premium brand.

   •    DFAC’s performance in January was driven mainly by its light-duty truck series.

   •    Zhengzhou Nissan’s January sales continued to be driven by the Nissan Navara (478 vehicles) and Dongfeng Rich-brand pickup series (3,160).
